Being a trustee is a rewarding experience. Trustees play a critical role in improving children’s education, supporting the work of the Academy and whilst giving a lot, developing their own skill sets or further enhancing existing skills and knowledge, for example chairing meetings, speaking in public and supporting in the appointment of staff.
As part of their role, Trustees:
-
meet as part of the Full Governing Body at least once termly
-
serve on at least one of the two committees which meet at least termly
-
read documents and prepare for meetings
-
visit the Academy regularly to really understand the life and work of the Academy which enables them to offer the role of ‘critical friend’ (the types of visits include coming into the Academy for events and planned monitoring visits which require a time commitment of normally three days over an academic year).
